Surprise Printing

Supplies Students Need To Have:

(10) 6 ½ inch blocks from white kona cotton (from one-yard aprox.)

1 piece of 12″ x 30″ white Kona cotton for repeats

1 plastic spoon

1 plastic knife

1 small plastic container such as a yogurt cup

1 piece of 8″ x 16″ of white kona cotton for sashing

8 oz. of Transparent Extender (I prefer the brand available at Prochemical & Dye.)

Roll of paper towels

Plastic gloves (like dishwashing gloves)

1″- wide roll of blue painters’ tape

2 big towels

1 3/4-size flat paint brush for acrylic paint

Old credit card or hotel room key

Water-erasable marking pen

(1) 8-cup plastic container for water

Few drops of dish detergent (like Blue Dawn but anything without bleach will work.)

20″ x 20″ piece of craft felt or batting (to be used while printing)

Iron

Optional: If you want to cut your own silk screen a Precision Cutter or you can watch how it’s used in class and then decide if you’d like to purchase one.
