In the spirit of the work of the Gee’s Bend quilt artists students will work improvisationally to create a unique sewn construction in the style of the “housetop” motif. Leslie will guide students to learn strategies of cutting fabric improvisationally using a rotary cutter with no ruler.
Sewing machines will be provided for class use.

Supplies Students to Bring
Basic sewing supplies: medium value neutral thread, preferably 50 wt, scissors, nippers, pins optional, rotary cutter with new blade, cutting mat (minimum size 12” x 18”).
Fabrics: At least 10-12 fat quarter prints that coordinate but have a variety of colors (so it looks scrappy)
At least 6-8 Fat quarter solids. May include neutrals. Bring some that coordinate with your solids. Note: You might want to bring a few solids that are either a lighter or darker in value.
