In one of my favorite workshops, students will learn how to create their own version of the lovely Goldfinch. Raw-edge appliqué adds to the beauty and the ease of stitching these pieces. I will guide you step-by-step through the process I have developed to create these magical creatures. You are encouraged to add bits of paper, trims, and other ephemera to your piece to reflect your personal style. The finished piece will measure approximately
12” x 16”.
Covered in class:
- Hand embroidery and applique techniques
- How to do hand embroidery without a hoop
- Background, color, and composition options
- Construction of the bird and the importance of the stitching sequence
- Finishing techniques for preserving and displaying your work to its best advantage All skill levels are welcome, and no experience with hand embroidery is necessary.
