Highs & Lows: Introspective Watercolor Art Journaling
Saturday, January 16
$120
Mailed kit will include several sheets of professional 140 lb. cold-press watercolor paper; a deluxe jumbo round watercolor brush; a gorgeous assortment of origami, collage papers, embellishments, stickers & washi tape; typewritten quotes & phrases.
Embark on an inward journey towards self-care with watercolor and mixed-media. Real life includes the emotional highs and lows, the ups and downs, the victories and defeats. Honoring this human duality is the heart of Gina’s art journaling process. In the first group of paintings, Gina will guide you on how to make beautiful clouds and dramatic storms as backgrounds (powerful, attainable and oh so expressive). In the second set of paintings, discover how to expertly blend, glaze and build up texture in watercolor (create stunning layers in multiple ways). We’ll then use the juxtaposition of lights and darks in our third style of paintings where we embellish our compositions with mixed-media elements (using meaningful objects, icons, symbols and collage pieces). And finally, we’ll incorporate some private journaling (whether it be a cathartic rant or an inspirational quote full of hope). Find yourself—through the art of making cloudscapes, landscapes, waterscapes & dreamscapes—as a way to connect with and have empathy for your story. The whole story.
Included in this workshop is an exclusive welcome tour of Gina’s art studio, a peak at how she organizes her mixed-media supplies and how she sets up her watercolor workstation. Come and join us around the craft table.
