Supplies Students Need To Bring
-Book: Color, Thread, & Free-Motion Quilting Learn to Stitch with Reckless Abandon (C&T Publishing)
-Two fat quarters–for the back your favorite fat quarter; for the top Robert Kaufman Radiance, dupioni, that special hand-dye sitting in your stash just waiting for this quilt
-Two fat quarters batting one low loft cotton(Bosal Katahdin, Quilters Dream Request Loft); the other: wool, silk, good quality low loft polyester (Quilters Dream or Hobbs)
-SewLine Marking pencil, or your favorite marking implement.
-Quilters Select Free Fuse, 505 spray, or MistyFuse for basting the layers
-Small scissors for snipping thread
-Hand sewing needle and needle threader OR Spiral Eye Needle. I suggest a size 9 as it’s easier to handle and bury threads.
-Thread a variety of color and weight and fiber. Suggestions: Silk 50 and 100 weight; Polyester 100, 60 weight (this will be used in the bobbin); 50, 40, 30 weights; Cotton 80, 50, 40, 28, 12 weight.
-Machine Needles: Microtex sizes 80/12 and 90/14 and Top stitch 70/10, 80/12 and 90/14. If you are using any 28 or 12 weight thread I suggest as size 100/16 Top Stitch. I use both Schmetz Chrome and Superior Titanium needles.
